MINT museum of toys

i have applied for an attachment at MINT Museum of Toys for 3 weeks in these holidays. the best thing about the attachment is to get to know this wonderful man Richard the curator at the museum. he is passionate about toys and very knowledgeable, and it is amazing that he can give the same level of enthusiasm in his guided tours everytime. for many pple repeating the same things over and over again can be boring, but in him i see genuine love for his passion. i learnt so much about collecting toys and history of toys from him.

i have helped the museum by coming up with the much-needed educational guidebook for secondary/tertiary students, and also helping their cafe to take photos for their new mocktail menu(which is also my first studio photo project for a cafe). i had the chance to converse with the museum's owner Mr Chang, who shared with me his vision for the museum, and also gave me a privileged guided tour of the museum, and shed some light on his toys collection(the entire collection belongs to him). i learnt how a small organisation works. it is even more important for the small team to bond well and share the same vision. sustainability and speed of progress is a much concerned issue for many of the visitors who love the museum dearly, but for Mr Chang, he seemed to be quite contented with the pace the museum is going. for him, the most important thing would be to give the best quality.

the more time i spent at the museum, the more i feel overwhelmed by the sheer rarity of the whole collection put together under one roof.

pls visit the museum if you haven't done so. it is a potential world-class museum in its infant stage(officially opened in march this year). i am very proud and grateful that singapore has such a high-standard toy museum. hope the toys will work their magic on the museum.

kim ki-duk's new film--Breath

prolific korean director Kim Ki-Duk, notorious for the violence and metophorical content of his films (The Boat, Spring Summer Autumn Winter, 3-Iron) comes back with a new film, Breath, which is not as violent but no less quirky. it brings to mind 3-Iron which is silent, perverse, entertaining and open to interpretation.

it is the first film that he uses a chinese actor (Chang Chen) in the cast. wait for it in local theatre soon.
