FARM

im not referring to local farm tours.

FARM is an online platform started by a group of creatives, helping the local creatives in Singapore to flaunt, share, explore, critic one another. it's a good way to make yourself known to others in the creative line, by uploading your description and links onto the colourful and oh-so-distracting website.

http://www.farm.sg/

these are the few names up there:
tan pin pin,ming,darren soh,casey chen,brian gothong tan,kevin yang

uniquely singapore or singapore uniquely?

ming, a local professional photographer has a new website early this year, affectionately named singapore uniquely, in tune to singapore tourism board's slogan (uniquely singapore, if you dont know yet).

he is in the process of moving his photos to this new space:
http://www.singaporeuniquely.com

take a look at his works for objectifs, singapore fringe festival and several other personal projects like the merlion.

have approached him and assisted him in one fashion shoot recently. really appreciate his generosity to 'take me in'. luckily i din damage any of his equipm. anyhows, it WAS an experience, a little fantasy at the back of my head coming true (i mean helping out at a true photo studio).

hiromi concert at esplanade

this petite japanese lady is not to be underestimated.
i read about her electrifying and improvisatonal performance at the last mosaic music festival on the newspapers, and regretted i did not get the tickets to her concert. i told myself if she comes to singapore again i would definitely go and watch her live.

then recently at esplanade i saw this lady's concert brochure on the shelves. i have no memory of the japanese lady's face but intuition tells me this lady on the brochure could be that genius.
and she is. luckily i went esplanade for a school concert or else i would have missed her again!

her music is a blend of jazz improvisation, classical lyricism and rock energy that "takes your breath away".

some history about her:
Hiromi began playing the piano at six, performed with orchestras at 12, and was a classical pianist by 17 when a chance meeting with Chick Corea saw her improvising with the legend. In 1999, Hiromi went to USA's Berklee College of Music and met mentors, Richard Evans and Ahmad Jamal.

im not so much of a jazz person but i am intrigued by the possible energy explosion of a single musician's live performance. i anticipate this coming concert very very much.

in this one-night-only concert, Hiromi will be accompanied by Tony Grey (bass guitar) and Martin Valihora (drums).
90mins, with no intermission
17 Dec 06, Sun, 7.30pm, Concert Hall

$48(sold out), $68, $88, $108
