picard knapsack
was looking for braun buffel 120years anniversary collection vintage design shoulder bag when i saw this breathtaking (literally) picard knapsack, a very neat-looking light brown water buffalo skin bag suitable for casual and work. a triangular design tapered at the top, and the two shoulder straps can be zipped up. front of bag is flat and clean with a zipper compartment in a curved design. i cant find its picture online to show. but it's nice! been looking for a bucket bag (hard fabric with a round bottom and drawstring top) and this picard bag comes close without looking too vintage. oh but price-wise....hmm need to wait for sale. but i dunno how long i can tahan.
btw the braun buffel shoulder bag or rather the anniversary collection only comes in next month. i have so many bags liao. but for now my philosophy is to invest in one or two well-designed timeless versatile expensive bag which i'll use regularly rather than many mid-quality cheap bags.

about reading
what is it about reading that makes one so absorbed and could make it a hobby?
does reading improve one's grasp of a language, expend one's vocabulary? i find it not if readers are only into the content. a student of mine is into books on wizardry, and she has become so addicted that she spends all her free time reading. she can read up to 2 books a day in the past, but ever since her grades dropped her mum gave her a strict limit of 1 book per week. (thats quite a torture for her). anyway her english hasn't really improve, quite contradictory.
when one is craving for something in the books, all else comes second to what the mind wants. one may improve in reading speed, but that may be all. unless one consciously wants to learn the flowery language and grammer in those books, or one is gifted in absorbing the lines and quotes by photographic memory, it is usually the content that we all want.
i am recently reading a lot i find. since i moved to new house, i picked up the habit of bedtime reading, simply cos there's a proper bedside table :) i have completed Wizard of Oz (the first and most popular of the 14 books in the series of Oz) with original illustrations, Alice in Wonderland with original illustrations, a chinese book on little pleasures (taipei author), and currently reading a compilation of fairy tales(MRT read) and brothers grimm's fairytales(bedtime read). i wouldn't say my language skills have improved, but my mind has indeed wandered further into unknown territories. i can almost literally feel my mind and imagination expand. i even dreamt of flower fairies alive! i don't know how else will these readings help me besides giving me enjoyment and temporary relief in another world, maybe subconsciously or in the long run something magical will happen in me.
